Hayley Fox is a lyric soprano known for her vulnerable and honest storytelling. Seeking to perform in a broad array of styles, she is well-versed in bringing commissions to life, rediscovering lost classics, and even writing music of her own.

Hayley’s recent engagements include singing the title role in a fully sold out Cendrillon with Chicago City Opera to critical acclaim. She recently covered the First Shopgirl in the Chicago premiere of Der Silbersee with Chicago Opera Theater. In the summer of 2025, Hayley joined the Opera Company of Middlebury, Vermont, making her debut as Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi. She also covered Mimi in their mainstage performance of La Bohéme. In the spring of 2025, she performed Elle in La Voix Humaineat Roosevelt University in a self-directed production with collaborators Dana Brown and Amy Hutchison, and she covered Cendrillon at Cedar Rapids Opera early that winter. in the fall of 2024, she covered the title role of in Leonora by Ferdinando Paër in the North American premiere of the opera, again with Chicago Opera Theater.

Hayley made her professional recital debut at the Glessner House with Jonathan Gmeinder this season, presenting a program of Barber’s Hermit songs as part of their Salon Series. She also has sung song repertoire as part of CAIC’s Songs at Six series in collaboration with Chicago College of the Performing arts.

As a champion of modern American opera, she premiered the role of Emily in The Weight of Light by Gillian Ray Perry to critical praise in the spring of 2024, and sang The Girl in the world premiere of Carlos Carrillo’s and Stephanie Fleischmann’s Remedios Varios Para las Aflicciones del Cuerpo y el Espírituthis spring, also with COT. Her other noteworthy credits include singing Morgaine in Opera Fusion: New Works workshop of Edmond Dede’s recently rediscovered Morgaine, co-produced by Opera Lafayette and Opera Creole. She covered Praskovya Ospipovna/Mother./Repectable Lady in Chicago Opera Theater’s production of Shostakovich’s The Nose under the baton of Lidiya Yankovskaya, while also singing in the chorus as Attendant/Traveller 3.

Equally comfortable in early repertoire as well as modern, she recently covered Armida in Handel’s Rinaldo while at the Glimmerglass Festival and sang Colette in Le Devin du Village by Jean Jacques Rousseau with the Chicago College of the Performing Arts Baroque Ensemble this past October. She was seen as Micaëla with in an abridged version of Bizet’s Carmen, which she also assistant directed at CCPA in 2024. Other credits include Susannah (Miss Hayes) as a Wolf Trap Opera Studio Artist in 2022, and in Galieo Galilei (Sagredo/Marie/Eos) with CCM Opera. Hayley is from Pennsylvania, and studied in Cincinnati, OH at the Univesity of Cincinnati under William Mcgraw, and Thomas Baresel.

Hayley is an avid collaborator and chorister. Her concert repertoire includes Vivaldi’s Magnificat, Faure’s Requiem, Schubert’s Mass in G, Handel’s Messiah, and Bach’s St. John’s Passion. She has sung with Cincinnati Opera, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and Chicago Opera Theater in the chorus. She is also on Music of the Baroque’s roster, as well as the Grant park Chorus. She is a member of AGMA.
