Hayley Fox Maloney

Lyric Soprano

Hayley Fox is a lyric soprano skilled at performing new works and classic operatic repertoire alike.

This summer, she will cover Senta in Der Fliegende Höllander and one of the flower maidens in Act II of Parsifal during Tundi producition’s Wagner in Vermont Festival. She recently sang the title role in Cendrillon with Chicago City Opera, and sang Marina in Katie: The Strongest of the Strong by Faye Chiao with Lyric Unlimited in their outreach tour through the Lyric Opera of Chicago. She also covered First Shopgirl in Chicago Opera Theater’s production of Kurt Weill’s Der Silbersee. Her recent role debuts included Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi (Opera Company of Middlebury), Elle in La Voix Humaine (Chicago College of Performing Arts), The Girl in Remedios Varios by Carlos Carillo, and Emily in the Weight of Light by Gillian Perry with Chicago Opera Theater, both world concert premieres through the Vanguard Initiative. She has covered Mimi in La Bohème (Opera Company of Middlebury), Cendrillon by Massenet (in English translation with Cedar Rapids Opera) and Leonora in Ferdinando Paër’s Leonora (Chicago Opera Theater.) Hayley has been seen as a young artist with Chicago Opera Theater, The Glimmerglass Festival, and Wolf Trap Opera. She is a first Prize Winner in the Musician’s Club of Women competition, and both an Encouragement award and District Winner of the Laffont Competition. She is currently a full time member of the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s chorus.

Original Music

Hayley writes original music under the moniker Hyssop. Titled after the bitter herb, she aims to blend her knowledge of classical music with her interest in jazz and contemporary idioms to create a sound that is flush with spirit and color. She collaborates with her partner Timothy Fox, and has played live around Chicago and Cincinnati.
